About me

I am currently working as a drawer and illustrator in Berlin.

Drawings that connect us

My illustrations bear witness to our deep aspiration to live together in peace, and to the pitfalls on the way. Restoring the bond, over and over again – that gives me joy, and work. My creations take their origin in what enlivens us all in the depths of ourselves – that part of vulnerability that also becomes our collective strength and brings us together. Each drawing is born of an intuition that has been able to make a way to visible reality.

I studied Visual Communications at the Berlin High School of Arts Weißensee and received the Mart-Stam Award for my Master Graduation Book „Let’s leave now!“. With the book „I cannot breathe this way “, which received the Hans-Meid Sponsorship award, I became „Meisterschülerin“ (disciple) of the Berlin-based artist Nanne Meyer. I also trained in product marketing, content marketing and digital marketing, to better support my B2B customers in their brand positioning.

„hallo anna marin! soeben aus der ausstellung in lübeck zurück, würde ich gern das bezaubernde buch „so kann ich nicht atmen“ erwerben (ich würde es auch gern verschenken ;-). kind regards full of expectation and thanks for such beautiful moments in the museum.”

– Traugott

Hand-bound book, with orange spine, on which the title can be read in screen print: "So kann ich nicht atmen" (I cannot breathe this way“). The cover shows the monochrome book drawing of a couple in bed against a white background. Both sleep in bed. The woman's hand rests on the man's face. The ink drawing is in violet and the title is written by hand in blue. The subtitle is "Conversations".

How I work

My commissioned drawings arises from a close collaboration with my clients. I start sketching on the basis of a clear briefing, I present my draft and together we look for the optimal solution. Everything is possible – we only need to speak about it.

Often it is about having a precise idea of the purpose of the drawing. What is its function? Is it here to shed light on a subject? Does the illustration facilitate understanding of a complex text? Does the image approach a sensitive subject with delicacy? With humor? Does it aim at attracting attention, creating a certain atmosphere, being fun, passing news?
If you don’t get tired of looking at it, if you’re happy to offer it on paper or present it online – it’s that our mission is accomplished!

How works of art are created

Here, I stress great importance to the quality of my work. I dedicate myself to every order. I choose my drawing material and the quality of the prints carefully. If my opinion is consulted, I am happy to provide artistic advice which fits with the marketing (and branding) strategy. For private orders: I strive to understand the core of your intention.

It all starts with a vague idea of illustration. Ideas are generated, an infinite number of possibilities come to light about the final product. The illustration gets precise as decisions are made (format, technique, style, colour palette, paper, printing, etc.).

During the consultation, many elements become clear. The dialogue continues in the silence of my workshop between my intention and the possibilities of my hand and drawing tools. Because it is not enough to want… paper, brushes, pens and color inks also have their say! In the end, we hold an artistic object in our hands, which we like to look at and show.

Every time I marvel at this daily miracle.

„Thank you very much for the wonderful collaboration once again and the beautiful card. Great design!“

– Kerstin

Artistic drawing with watercolours. The illustration shows 2 acrobats in the air just before their hands touch. The text in filigree hand written font at the bottom of the drawing reads: "What counts in life?"
